Is spandex a fiber or fabric?

Spandex, Lycra, or elastane is a synthetic fiber known for its exceptional elasticity. It is a polyether-polyurea copolymer that was invented in 1958 by chemist Joseph Shivers at DuPont's Benger Laboratory in Waynesboro, Virginia, US.

Why spandex is good for yoga clothes ?

It's extremely flexible and stretchy, making it great for people who do workouts that require a large range of motion, such as yoga and stretching for meditations. This synthetic fabric is found primarily in skin-tight clothing, such as track shorts, leggings and yoga bras.

Spandex is "moisture-wicking," which means that it won't show sweat (even though it might help cause it) that is why it is good for yoga clothes
