How to Troubleshoot Pilates Reformer Spring Noise Caused by a Loose Connector

Is your Pilates reformer suddenly making an unusual noise near the springs? A loose spring connector may be the cause. Watch this quick troubleshooting video to learn how to inspect and correct the issue.

What May Be Causing the Noise?

If you hear an unexpected noise while moving the carriage, stop using the reformer and inspect the springs. In some cases, a spring connector underneath the carriage may have become loose and may need to be tightened.

How to Fix a Loose Spring Connector

  1. Stop using the reformer and carefully disconnect the springs.
  2. Remove or secure any loose accessories.
  3. With assistance, carefully turn the carriage over.
  4. Locate the spring connectors underneath the carriage.
  5. Use the correct Allen key to tighten each loose connector securely.
  6. Make sure all connectors and springs are properly aligned.
  7. Return the carriage to its correct position and reconnect the springs.
  8. Test the carriage slowly before returning to your regular workout.

Important Safety Reminder

Never adjust the spring connectors while the reformer is in use or while the springs are under tension. If the noise continues after tightening and aligning the connectors, stop using the equipment and contact PersonalHour Support for assistance.
